The government has declared February 25 as National Martyred Army Day to officially observe the tragic mutiny of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in 2009.
The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification on Sunday in this regard.
The BDR mutiny, also known as the Pilkhana tragedy, occurred on February 25-26, 2009, when a faction of the paramilitary force rebelled, resulting in the brutal killings of 74 people, including 57 army officers.
The notification states that the day will be observed as a Category C day, with no public holiday.
