Two people were killed and five others were arrested in a gunfight with joint forces in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at Chand Udyan when joint forces clashed with suspected criminals. 

The deceased have been identified as Jumman, 25, and Miraz Hossain, 26. 

The arrestees are Mohammad Miraz, 25, Al Amin, 24, Mohammad Hossain, 23, Mominul, 20, and Mehedi Hasan, 19.

According to Mohammadpur police, the clash took place around 12:30 am. The suspects fired at the forces from the roof of a house, prompting the joint forces to retaliate. Following a search of the house, the bodies of Jumman and Miraz were recovered from the roof.

The police also recovered a pistol, four rounds of ammunition, and a machete from the scene. 

A case was filed against the suspects under the Arms Act, and the arrested individuals have been taken to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday. 

The police have requested a seven-day remand for each of the arrested suspects.
