United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is set to visit Dhaka for a four-day trip from March 13 to 16, according to a press release issued by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
The ministry confirmed that the UN chief’s office has officially acknowledged the visit. Guterres is coming to Bangladesh at the invitation of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the country’s interim government.
The statement also said that Chief Adviser’s High Representative on Rohingya Affairs, Khalilur Rahman, met Guterres in New York on February 7 and personally handed over the invitation letter.
