Thailand has made the e-visa application process easier for Bangladeshi citizens in three categories - medical treatment, seminars, and sports events.
The Thai Embassy in Dhaka announced this through a press release on Sunday (Feb 2), saying that improved services have been introduced for Thai e-visa applicants.
The new benefits will be available from February 2.
Patients requiring life-saving treatments such as chemotherapy, major surgeries, cancer treatment, and cardiac procedures, as well as pregnant women facing complications, are advised to contact their Thai hospital or a hospital representative in Bangladesh to confirm emergency status before requesting assistance from the embassy.
Each patient is allowed one attendant, while additional attendants may apply through the standard procedure.
For participants of conferences, seminars, and workshops organized by UN agencies in Bangkok, the host organizations have been asked to send their names and contact details to Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participants may also inform the Thai Embassy in advance via email.
Athletes participating in international competitions in Thailand have been asked to submit their names and contact details to Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the relevant sports authority or the Thai Sports Authority. They can also notify the embassy in advance via email.
To enhance visa application services, the Thai Embassy is actively upgrading its application and payment system. The visa processing time requires at least 10 working days, and applicants are strongly advised to submit their applications early.
The Thai Embassy also announced that it will remain closed on February 12 for Maghi Purnima, a Buddhist religious festival.
