The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court today ordered the freezing of all bank lockers associated with former Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Governor S K Sur Chowdhury and his family members.
The decision follows a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation officer.
Judge Zakir Hossain Galib also instructed the deposit of Taka 16,25,000, recovered from Sur's residence, into the government treasury.
The court further ordered chemical testing of two mobile phones belonging to Sur for investigative purposes.
The ACC's petition revealed ongoing investigations into Sur, his wife Suparna, and daughter Nandita, over allegations of tax evasion, illegal wealth accumulation, and money laundering.
Authorities suspect the family may attempt to move assets from their lockers ahead of formal charges.
S K Sur Chowdhury, arrested on January 14 by the ACC and Detective Branch (DB) of police, was later sent to jail custody.
