Father files lawyer Saiful murder case against 46

Father of Saiful Islam Alif, the lawyer who was fatally hacked to death during a violent clash in Chattogram, filed a murder case against 31 named and 15 unnamed suspects.

The deadly clash, which occurred on Tuesday, involved followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, police, and lawyers.

Saiful's father Jamal Uddin lodged the case at Kotwali Police Station, according to ADC (Public Relations) Kazi Tarek Aziz of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), who confirmed the development on Saturday (Nov 30).

In his complaint, Jamal Uddin alleged that the attackers, some of whom were named in the FIR, used weapons including machetes, tridents, and cleavers in a premeditated assault on Saiful as he was heading home. The attackers reportedly chanted slogans demanding the expulsion of ISKCON leader Chinmoy during the attack.

Jamal Uddin further claimed that individuals linked to political organizations such as the Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League, and their affiliates were involved in instigating the murder, either directly or indirectly.

These allegations, he said, were based on information provided by Saiful’s colleagues and local sources following his death.
