A Dhaka court remanded four individuals, including ex-DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam and former ICT minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, in murder and attempt-to-murder cases related to the July-August student protests.

The other remanded individuals are former lawmaker Sadek Khan and ex-DNCC ward-29 councillor Salimullah Solu. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiyak issued the remand orders after the police presented the accused before the court, requesting remand in the cases.

Atiqul Islam was placed on a three-day remand in relation to the murder of Md Fazlul Karim on August 5, a case filed by Karim's brother, Anwar Hossain, on August 21.
