The High Court today (October 30) dismissed 11 sedition and sabotage cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia during the previous Awami League government.

The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossein handed down the verdict after disposing of the rules issued for the annulment of the cases.

Khaleda Zia’s legal team included prominent lawyers such as Joynul Abedin, Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Barrister Ragib Rauf Chowdhury, Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, Advocate Md Zakir Hossain, Barrister HM Sanjid Siddique, Advocate Tareq Bhuiya, and Advocate M Sabbir Ahmed.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that today was the date for hearing on the rule in the cases which had been stayed since 2016-17. 

He also said that Khaleda Zia had already been granted bail in these cases and today's proceedings marked their official conclusion.
