The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested three suspected members of the banned militant group Hizb ut-Tahrir in the capital’s Uttara area.
The arrests took place around 12:15 AM on Friday.
CTTC officials apprehended Monirul Islam, 40, Mohtasin Billah, 40, and Mahmudul Hasan, 21, during a raid in Sector-11 and Sector-12 under Uttara West Police Station.
According to a press release, the suspects were planning to organize a rally titled "March for Khilafah" near the Baitul Mukarram Mosque.
Acting on a tip-off, the CTTC conducted the operation and arrested the three individuals.
A case has been filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the DMP added.
