DHAKA: Government’s treasury slip or challan could be submitted online within six months—seen as an epoch-making change in the troublesome outmoded system, thanks to the digitization process.

At the same time, visitors’ slip at the Secretariat will also be made available online to end another hassle the members of the public face coming to see their representatives of government officials.

“People will be able to fill up form of government treasury challan online and pay government fees from home. This will reduce customers’ sufferings as well,” said Nazrul Islam Khan, Project Director of Access to Information (A2I) Project under the Prime Minister Office.

Thousands of people will be benefited, Khan said after signing two separate memorandums of understanding (MOU) between A2I project and the finance wings of Home and Finance Ministries Wednesday.

The two projects will cost Tk 55 lakh with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of implementing the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ scheme.

Joint secretary of Finance Division Md Muslim Chowdhury and Joint Secretary of Home Ministry Shafiqul Islam signed the MOUs on behalf of their respective side while Khan signed on behalf of the A2I.
