Gold prices increased

Jewellers in Bangladesh have raised gold prices citing a price hike in the international market.

They have increased the price of gold by Tk2,823 to Tk1,42,266 per bhori within a day of hiking the price of pure gold in the local market.

The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting today.

The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk12,197 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,643 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,979 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,200 per gram.

New prices will come into effect on Sunday, the release added.

However, prices of silver remained unchanged.

The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
