Gold prices hit historic high in Bangladesh

Gold prices in Bangladesh have hit a new record, with 22-carat gold increasing by Tk1,470 to Tk1,51,282 per bhori (11.664 grams), marking the highest price ever recorded in the country.

The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) announced the price adjustment on Monday after a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

The hike was attributed to rising prices of pure gold in the local market.

According to new price, 22-carat gold will now cost Tk12,970 per gram, while 21-carat gold will be priced at Tk12,380 per gram. The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk10,611 per gram, and traditional gold at Tk8,739 per gram.

The revised rates will take effect from Tuesday, according to a press release signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman.

Despite the gold price surge, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk221 per gram, 21-carat at Tk210, 18-carat at Tk181, and traditional silver at Tk136 per gram.
