Jatrabari into battleground as students of 3 colleges clash

Students from Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Molla College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College engaged in a violent clash, turning Dhaka's Jatrabari area into a battlefield on Monday (November 25).

According to sources, several students were injured during the chase and counter-chase.

The clash began around 12 pm near Molla College after students from Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College marched toward the institution.

Earlier in the morning, around 10 am, students from different disciplines of Shaheed Suhrawardy College began gathering on the college premises. From there, they marched towards Kabi Nazrul College, chanting slogans. When the Principal of Kabi Nazrul College requested the agitated students to calm down, they refused and continued chanting "Bhua Bhua" slogans.

Later, the agitated students of Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College marched towards Mahabubur Rahman Molla College, leading to a clash between students of the three institutions.

On Sunday, students of Mahabubur Rahman Molla College in Purana Dhaka’s National Medical area staged a siege program in protest of the death of Abhijit, a student of the same college. As part of the previously announced ‘Super Sunday’ program, students from Molla College and several other colleges vandalized Dhaka National Medical College and the nearby Suhrawardy College.

During the incident, the honors first-year examination at Suhrawardy College center was postponed.

In retaliation for this attack and vandalism, students of Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College launched an attack on Molla College on Monday.
