KOLKATA:  The banned Islamist outfit Harkat-ul Jihad (Huji) Bangladesh is expanding its network in the name of different organizations in the remote villages on the islands located near the Indian part of the Sunderbans in West Bengal, intelligence sources said.
 
Police said the leaders of Huji and Simi publish their Jihad and other activities and collect money using names of ‘Student of Islamic Action Force’, ‘Muslim Dakota Monch’, and ‘All Bengal Islamic Student Conference’.

The outfit opened a Jihad training center led by Jalal Udddin Mollah alis Babu Bhai at Namkhana in South 24 Parganas.  But Laxkhaon police arrested the Huji leader.

“We opened the training centre following order by one of top Huji leaders, Amir Reza Khan. Arms, explosives and money are coming to the centre from Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira by fishing trawlers,” Babu Bhai told police during interrogation.

Then, trained Huji members reportedly spread to different parts of India.

Huji had a plan to turn the centre into a transit point but could not as police were monitoring its activities.

Recently, the Huji operatives have taken an initiative to reform the organization at Namkhana, Kakdip, Joynagar, Pathorprotima, Kultali, Kaning, and Bashonti and other areas of the Sunderbans, world’s largest contiguous mangrove forest sprawling along the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
