DHAKA: Alliances Française de Dhaka will organize a series of events commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of the First  World  War.

On this occasion, the organizers will arrange an exhibition and an international conference on the theme of `War and colonies`.

The exhibition of rare photographs of colonial troops engaged in the Great War will be open on February 28 for the viewers at Alliance Française`s La Galerie. It will continue till March 8.

This exhibition will also be shown at the Liberation War Museum from March 11 to 18.

Alliance Française and Dhaka University will jointly organize a two-day international conference on `War and Colonies, 1914-1918`, bringing together Bangladeshi experts and internationally renowned historians from France, Germany, Ireland, the USA and India.

The seminar will be held at Dhaka University`s Senate Hall on February 25 and 26.

Alliances Française recently informed media in a press conference attended by Babou Kamichetty, Deputy Head of Mission, French Embassy in Bangladesh; Tariq Ali, Trustee, Liberation War Museum; Dr. Iftekhar Iqbal, Associate Professor, Department of History, University of Dhaka; Dr. Syeda Rozana Rashid, Associate Professor, Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka and Olivier Litvine, Director Alliance Française de Dhaka.
