Singer Sonu Nigam was manhandled at a Mumbai event on Monday, February 20 night. One of the singer's aide was pushed off the stage as well when fans clamoured to get a selfie with the famed singer.

The incident took place in Chembur where Sonu Nigam was climbing down the stage following a live performance.

In an interaction with reporters Nigam said he fell on the steps after he was pushed. Rabbani Khan came to save him and was pushed from behind. The singer expressed shock saying that Rabbani could have died. "I filed a complaint because people must think about it when they force someone to take a selfie," the singer told reporters.

The singer added that a person named Swapnil caught him and he came to know his name later.

The singer added that he too fell as can be seen in the video. The singer stated that he would have fallen under the stage and at that time Rabbani came to save him. The singer added that he survived, otherwise he would have died. According to the singer, "Jab mujhe push kiya toh main gir gaya. Agar peeche loha hota.. bach gaya, nahin to mar jaata (if there was iron behind them, they would have died).

Sonu Nigam's complaint states that when he queried about the perpetrator, he came to know that he was the son of MLA Prakash Phaterpekar.
