Singer Akbar's health is in critical condition and was taken to ICU.

The news was confirmed to the media by his daughter, Athoi.

A few days ago, he had his legs amputated due to increased physical complications. He was under treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical Hospital in the capital.

Akbar Ali Gazi rose to fame with his song "Tomar Haat Pakhar Batashe" at the programme Ityadi, hosted by Hanif Sanket. He used to be a rickshaw puller in the town of Jashore before that.

After he could not perform anymore due to his failing health, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allotted BDT 20 Lakh for his treatment.
