DHAKA: The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations began across the country on Thursday morning.

The examinations of English first paper of JSC and Arabic second paper of JDC started at around 10:00am.

Education Ministry said a total of 19 lakh 2746 students are appearing in the examinations this year. Of them, 15 lakh 87313 students are in JSC and 3 lakh 15,433 in JDC.

Earlier, JSC and JDC examinations were scheduled to start from November 4, but were shifted to November 7 due to hartal called by BNP-led 18-party alliance.

According to new schedule exams of November 4 will be held on November 8 and exams of November 6 will be held on November 9.

The examinations are scheduled to end on November 20.
