DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday morning embarked upon a month-long trip to the UK and the USA with a business-crammed agenda, officials said.

A competent source in the Finance Ministry said the minister would first visit London and he would attend there a view-exchange meeting with Bangladesh expatriates on September 18.

He would leave London for the United States on September 19 and attend a number of international conferences and meetings there.

Among the programmes are the annual meeting of the International Bank Fund, observance of Bali Dialogue, the annual conference of the International Monetary Fund and the annual conference of the World Bank.    

Muhith also would attend a conference on use and transfer of technology.

He is expected to return home on October 16.
