LALMONIRHAT:  An elephant died of heatstroke at a circus in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat on Monday (September 2).

The circus event held at Hajiganj Aliya Madrasa ground in Kamalabari Union of the upazila around 4: 30 pm. 

According to locals, the elephant that came from Shyampur of Rangpur to Lalmonirhat trade fair had been extorting money from various villages of the district. It suddenly fell sick due to hot weather and died within a moment.

Circus manager was informed about death of the elephant. Decision on removal of the body will be taken when authority arrives here, care taker of the elephant Saiful Islam, told Banglanews.

Treatment could be given if reported on sickness, but report came after its death, Aditmari upazila livestock officer Dr. Mosharraf Hossen, told Banglanews.
