DHAKA: In a latest development to freight services for Bangladeshi expatriates, Kader Cargo Service Singapore (Private Limited) launched its Bangladesh-to-Malaysia back and forth services in October this year.
From now on, Bangladeshi expatriates living in Malaysia will be able to send goods and products home by the Kader Cargo and Courier Service (KCCS) and receive parcels sent by their relatives from Bangladesh.
KCCS, a sister concern of Kader Cargo Service Singapore (Private Limited), has been providing freight service Bangladesh to Singapore backward and forward successfully for long.
The company has both air and marine cargo services to transport the goods from Bangladesh to Malaysia backward and forward. They use ‘door-to-door’ service in all districts across Bangladesh to deliver products.
KCCS delivers the products within minimum three days and maximum 10 days. The company gives the customer a commitment of cent percent compensation in case of losing or damaging the goods.
A parcel weighing less than 200 grams will cost 60 Malaysian Ringgits (RM) (approximately Tk 1500) to reach at KCCS Bangladesh office in the city’s Uttara area. If RM 10 more (about Tk 250) is added to the total expense the company will deliver the parcel anywhere in the country.
To send an electronic product like mobile-phone, laptop, camera, and LCD/LED monitor home, an expatriate living in Malaysia will have to cost RMs ranging from 85 to 250.
A parcel of normal goods weighing above 200 kilograms (kg) will cost RM 14 per kg while parcel under 3 kilograms will cost RM 75 a kg.
Abdul Kader, chairman of Kader Cargo Service Singapore (Private Limited), inaugurated the company’s Malaysia branch at Jalan Silang Bangla Market of Kuala Lumpur on October 16.
The main customers of freight services in Bangladesh are the expatriates living abroad. The expatriates send at least 14 to 15 tones of goods home every week using the Bangladeshi-owned cargo companies, Kader said.
The businessman said, despite their willingness, they cannot provide full services to the customers due to lack of cargo space at Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircrafts, flight schedule delay and unplanned offload of goods.
“We will try our level best to solve the problem with the consultation of Biman authorities from now on,” the Bangladesh-origin successful Singapore businessperson added.
KCCS began its journey with a view protecting the interests of Malaysia-based cargo companies owned by Bangladeshis.
Kader said, cargo sector is a wide area for business; not only sending goods to Bangladesh but also exporting and importing goods and courier service to other countries is also possible.
This is a potential sector for the new generation of the Bangladeshi expatriates, he added.
Kader said his company has fulfilled the expatriates’ demands in Singapore and they will also meet the demands of Malaysia-expatriates too.
